Women's Cancer Detection and
Breast Clinic
Aware of the increasing incidence of breast cancer amongst younger Malaysian women, the Society established the first Mammography Centre in the country and Southeast Asia region in 1985.

A resident radiologist together with a team of professional and highly skilled female personnel provides efficient and quality service at this centre. The team also provides counselling and supportive services, and treats each patient with utmost confidentiality and care.
The Centre caters exclusively to women's cancers. It has modern facilities for the screening and detection of breast and gynaecological cancers, in a comfortable and inviting setting for the woman. Its services are continually upgraded to ensure the latest in technology is available in Malaysia

The Clinic provides breast screening & detection services as well as screening for gynaecological cancers. It has a state of the art digital mammography unit, digital ultrasound and bone density scanning facilities. Services available here include digital mammography, PAP smear test, ultrasound, teaching of Breast Self Examination and Breast Prosthesis fitting for patients who have undergone mastectomy. Women of age between 40 to 49 are recommended for a mammography x-ray every year and once every two years for those age 50 and above. |

One of the main benefits of digital technology is the ability to manipulate images to improve detail and clarity for both large and small breasted women, which means even earlier detection of breast cancers. |

With digital, images are available and viewable in seconds. There is no waiting for film to develop, which can mean a shorter time spent in the breast imaging suite.
|
|
Another convenience of digital mammography is it can greatly reduce the need for retakes due to over or under exposure. This potentially saves additional time and reduces exposure to x-rays.

It is open from Mondays to Fridays, from 8.30 am to 4.30 pm. An appointment is recommended to avoid delays.

The center is a part of the National Cancer Society of Malaysia (NCSM). Services are subsidised by the NCSM and thus are economical whilst providing a professional and comprehensive service. Charges are waived for women in a low income status.
All fees collected are used for operational expenses and cancer education programmes.
